Who We Are

Youth Empowerment

  1. Objectives


(a) The organisation's main objectives are to:


  1. Empower youth in local small businesses.

  2. Create a facility with the support and involvement of youth where senior citizens can socialize.

  3. Educate the youth around leadership development.

  4. Create a platform for youth with local talent in music, arts & culture, dancing and modeling to gain exposure to the broader media.

  5. Educate youth around substance and drug abuse.

  6. Set up support groups for youth effected and exposed by domestic violence, drug & alcohol abuse and child abuse.

  7. Set-up a Youth Centre within the organisation for youth to socialize in recreational activities.

  8. Start-up, support, promote and manage different sports codes in community such as cricket, soccer, rugby, netball, tennis, volleyball and athletics.

  9. Mobilizing volunteers especially from schools to participate and empower themselves with different skills in the CYDU.


(b) The organisation's secondary objectives will be to:


  1. Create HIV/AIDS awareness programs and run workshops to educate the youth.

  2. Provide First Aid training to the youth.

  3. Provide governance training to youth organisation’s.

  4. Educate the youth around the negative impacts unhealthy lifestyles and waste dumping has on our natural resources.

  5. Develop a Recruitment database and support for unemployed youth where companies can recruit from without the employee's need to pay any agency fees.

  6. Educate the youth around Government Policies and Projects.

Mr. Heinrich Van Der Schyff

Chairperson

The chairperson, as leader of the organisation, chairs all the organisation's meetings that she or he attends. She or he must:

  • See that members stick to the rules and guidelines that are in their constitution.

  • Chair meetings in such a way as to keep good order.

  • Sign minutes of meetings after members have agreed that the minutes are accurate.

  • Check that accounts show correct spending of the organisation's money and agree to the accounts being paid.

  • Sign cheques on the organisation's banking accounts or accounts.

  • Sign all funding agreements.

  • Generally, supervise and keep a check on the organisation's affairs.

  • Do other duties that the organisation expects of its chairperson.

  • Make sure that meetings take place regularly, as set down in the constitution.

  • Use his or her power to ask other officials and members of the organisation and its committees to do certain duties and tasks if needed be:

  • Work in a team spirit with other members of the organisation.

  • Serve as ex-officio on all sub-committees. Being ex-officio means she or he can attend all of the organisation's meetings and take part in the discussions. But when it comes to voting on issues in the sub-committees, she or he may not vote.

  • Run the annual general meeting.

  • See that the annual report is written.

  • Chairperson with the assistance of the Executive Committee will appoint a member from the management committee when he or she feel fit do so as a Public Relations Officer or any other positions needed to be filled to ensure that the organisation’s administration runs smoothly.

Deputy Chairperson

The Deputy chairperson takes over the chairperson's tasks and duties when she or he is not there. The vice-chairperson should keep in close contact with the chairperson.

The vice-chairperson must:


  • Take on duties and functions that have been passed on to him or her.


  • Serve as ex-officio on all sub-committees.


If both the chairperson and the vice-chairperson do not attend a meeting, then the organisation’s members must elect a chairperson from amongst themselves for that meeting.

CYDU Programme Director

Program Director is responsible for researching, planning, developing and implementing an organization's programs. ... Initiate and set goals for programs based on the organization's strategic objectives. Plan programs from start to finish, including identifying processes, deadlines and milestones.

General Secretary

The secretary is responsible for making sure that the organisation's administration runs smoothly. She or he must work closely with the chairperson and the vice-chairperson. The secretary must:


  • Keep proper records and minutes of all meetings.

  • Deal with letters and other correspondence that the organisation receives and sends.

  • Prepare and send out notices of all meetings of the organisation.

  • Do other duties that she or he may be asked to do from time to time.

  • Prepare the venue for meetings.

Treasurer

The treasurer keeps a record of all the money that comes into the organisation. This includes for example donations and money raised from fundraising. The treasurer also keeps a record of all the money that is spent by the organisation. The treasurer must:


  • Keep proper records of what the organisation receives, and of what it spends.

  • Keep a proper list of the names of members and donors.

  • Write out, sign, keep a copy of, and give receipts for all money that the organisation receives.

  • Pay the organisation's accounts.

  • Make sure that the organisation does not spend more money than it has.

Vice Treasurer / Treasurer - Junior Board

Will assist the treasurer to fulfill his or her duties but will not be allowed to sign checks or other documentation from the organisation.

  • Must meet at least once a week with the treasurer to compile and update treasures report.

  • Will have to give treasurer's report feed-back to general meeting when treasurer is not available.
