Our Background

A brief history of CYDU

The Organisation CYDU is a Non-Profit Organisation that was founded on 12 October 2017 by Community Development Workers Students from Westcoast College who were doing their practical internship at Western Cape Department of Local Government (CDW Office) after recognizing and identifying a need of Atlantis and surrounding areas for keeping youth away from drugs and gangsterism through sports, music and art projects and other economic activities.

The Organisation’s membership focuses mostly on ordinary youth from their direct communities who show great interests and passion for making positive changes in their community. The organization is driven by a Management Board and the Organisation is as well constituted. We are registered as a Non-Profit Organisation since 20 April 2018. The organization’s objectives revolve around numerous amounts of critical challenges faced daily by our youth and strive to tackle them but will only be able to achieve these goals by generating income by means of fundraisings, donations in kind, etc.
